The following documents are critical in our work

  1. Constitution of Zimbabwe adopted in May 2013 guaranteeing freedom from arbitrary evictions (Section 74) and also providing the rights to access to secure land and socio-economic rights.
  2. African Union Convention for the Protection and Assistance and Protection of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Africa (popularly known as the Kampala Convention) which was adopted by African Union member states on 23rd October 2009. It places on signatories the responsibility to prevent arbitrary displacements and to assist IDPs affected by internal displacements. Zimbabwe has already signed and ratified it but awaits domestication.
  3. Recommendations and Guidelines on Development Induced Displacements (DIDs) produced by the Centre for Conflict Management and Transformation (CCMT)
  4. Guiding Principles on Internal Displacements by the United Nations
  5. Migration and Human Settlements Policies in Zimbabwe
